THE WEINBACH GROUP’S JULIA WAKEFIELD JOINS ASSOCIATION FOR WOMEN IN COMMUNICATIONS BOARD OF DIRECTORS

MIAMI, FLORIDA – The Association for Women in Communications South Florida Chapter (AWC) appointed Julia K. Wakefield to its Board of Directors, announced The Weinbach Group, an integrated marketing communications firm where Ms. Wakefield serves as communications specialist.

In her new post as communications chair she will represent the AWC to the media, the community and fellow AWC members, and she will lead the organization’s community outreach initiatives, including media relations and publicity.

“Julia will bring discipline, tenacity, and intelligence to the communications efforts she spearheads for the AWC,” said Daniel Weinbach, chief operating officer and executive vice president for The Weinbach Group. “I see her apply those principles with great success to our clients’ communications programs here at our firm, and I’m confident she’ll do the same for the AWC.”

Tonya Scholz, president of the AWC, selected Ms. Wakefield in part because of her unique mix of advertising and public relations know-how that she has acquired while working at The Weinbach Group. “Julia’s addition to the board will help us generate much-needed buzz as we launch our brand throughout South Florida and prepare to celebrate the Association’s centennial anniversary in 2009.”

Originally from Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., Ms. Wakefield earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in philosophy from Davidson College in Davidson, North Carolina. She resides in Miami.
